“If a tree falls in the forest blah blah blah”.
But along the same lines:
“If you micromanage all your employees can or does teamwork exist?”
Look, most people who own and run a company can be control freaks, and there is nothing necessarily wrong with that.
And most people who own and run a successful company have very high standards. And there is nothing wrong with that.
But if you want a true team you must let go.
You must trust your people to execute on the goals of the firm.
You must allow your people to form bonds by collaborating on tasks and projects.
Despite all the leadership bullshit out there, it is often the case that a lot of teamwork gets built when you are NOT in the room.
If the prospect of this drives you crazy as a micromanager then take up a hobby like twiddling your thumbs or writing blogs ;-). But whatever you do, just stay out of the way of your people.
